Red Robins October News
Orange Preschool
Look what we learned last month!
In the month of September, we welcomed all of our new Red Robins. They learned about the rules and introduced the R.A.D. (Really Awesome Day) Awards. The children have been doing an awesome job trying to earn the R.A.D. Awards. If your child is having a hard time with something at home, let us know and we will work with you and offer your child a R.A.D. Award if they do what they are told to do. Please parents, do not take the R.A.D. folders home – they stay at school at all times. Please take a minute and read over our R.A.D. Award system, it's on your child's folder.
We talked about apples on one of our All About Me days, I am special weeks. We saw how different the apples are, but they are still apples. Just like all of our friends are different but they are all children. Many children brought apples to school and we talked about the different types of apples, their taste, color, and where they come from. In the classroom, we had 5 different types of apples. For example, Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady, Red Delicious, and Granny Smith. As a class, we counted the apples and did some early math too. For art, we painted with the apples and decorated apples with tissue paper.
For the first day of Fall, we talked about the weather changing and leaves falling. The Red Robins marble tissue papered leaves to hang up in our classroom.
We learned the first letter in each child's name. A lot of our friends knew what letter their name started with and others needed some help. Please continue to work with your child's name at home.
What we will learn this month…
For the month of October, the Red Robins will be learning about
Manners and Self Esteem, Feelings and Emotions. They will be learning how to share their feelings with their friends. For example, "when you are not nice to me, you make me feel sad." We will work with the children on saying please and thank yous. We will remind the children when we need to use our manners. All the children are special and all of our firends should be nice to each other.
The Red Robins will make cool Halloween art to decorate our classroom and for you to take home. They will be making pumpkins on a gate, witches, bats, jack-O-lanterns and much more.
At the end of the month, we will dress up in our costumes and go trick-or-treating. If you can take the morning off from work and volunteer your time, we can use the help please. Look for sign up sheets 2 weeks before.
In class we will practice writing both upper and lower case letters and sounds they make. We will start tracing and writing our names in class. It will go out on Mondays and you can return the homework on your child's last day for the week. We are also learning the days of the week, months of the year in class and we would like for you to go over them at home with your child too.
