Blue Birds December News

Orange Preschool

Look what we learned last month!

In the month of November, The Blue Birds worked on comprehension recall by learning a new song to sing to their mommies and daddies.  The song we worked on was “I Love You a Bushel and a Peck…” the Blue Birds really enjoyed learning the song and sang it throughout the day!  While learning about national and state symbols during the Hooray for the USA week, the Blue Birds tried replicating the American Flag, you can still see them hanging up in our classroom.  The Blue Birds also worked on their cutting skills this month!  We started off with scissor grasp and moved on to cutting lines, shapes, and pictures in magazines.  Lastly, the Blue Birds had a fantastic time making all sorts of Harvest/Thanksgiving crafts!  We made place mats, cards, paper turkeys, and much more!  The Blue Birds favorite craft, I think, had to be the wreaths.  I think this had to be their favorite because they had a grand time tickling themselves with the feathers!

What we will learn this month…

2014 is almost over and we have to end the year with a BANG! We have lots of fun and exciting activities planned for the month of December.  For example, to work on fine motor skills and color recognition, we will paint using trains!  During transportation week we will conduct a sink or float experiment using apple boats.  The Blue Birds will continue to review the days of the week and months of the year through song and by completing the calendar (which we work on daily).  Also, we will continue to master our zoo phonics by using flash cards, letter buckets, and our words on the board activity.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

Homework will also continue this month, so please don’t forget to visit the Adventures In Learning website to print out your child’s homework!  We have several great activities posted to aid in letter recognition, and when your child turns in their completed homework, he or she will earn a star!
